WASPA Fall Administrative Conference - Nov. 2-3, 2017

Our fall WASPA conference is being held November 2 and 3 at the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake. Kindly note the different types of registrations offered. Any employee of a WASPA member district is treated as a "member" for registration and fee purposes.  There is no charge for retired WASPA members.

Room rates at the Osthoff are $82 per night for singles and $109 per night for doubles. The Osthoff also offers a two bedroom/two bath suite for $112.  Their reservation number is 800-876-3399. Simply indicate that you are a member of WASPA and let them know which conference you are attending as we have two booked there in November -- the Fall Admin Conference and the Fall Administrative Suppport Staff Conference. You will need to provide the first night's deposit upon making your reservation. There is a cancellation fee of $40 if you cancel your room reservation 72 hours prior to our conference. Any later than that and you will be charged the full night's rate.

This year's conference includes some great opportunities to learn from our presenters about Educator's Rising - attracting high school students into the profession and developing future teachers; Avoiding HR Legal Traps & Pitfalls; New  Licensure Requirements and Updates from DPI; Utilizing Social Media for Recruitment; Legislative Update from School Administrators Alliance; WECAN updates; and a Stump the Attorney Legal Session.

Even though it's hard to take time away from our busy schedules in the office, this time to network and learn with peers is invaluable!

Join us as you will again have the opportunity to learn from the shakers and movers in the state and share your experiences with your fellow educators.

Note that this year we are again offering credit through Viterbo for conference attendance and follow up activities.

It’s a competitive market – and your school wants the best teaching and support staff for your students. In this working session, Andrea will break down the latest strategies for using platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram to share openings for your school. And it goes beyond just posting jobs. Your school needs to embrace social media to celebrate your amazing students and staff all year long. We will talk through the basics of an effective social media presence and then give you time to start using the tools that will help make your school standout.

Legal Updates/Stump the Attorney (Atty. Christine Hamiel, vonBriesen & Roper)

The legal landscape seems to change on a daily basis.  Just when we think we may have the laws and regulations figured out, Congress, the State Legislature, or some court tells us what we are doing needs to be changed or there is some wrinkle in the law that we didn’t previously recognize.  This session is designed to give you the latest information on legal developments impacting schools.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about legal issues you are facing in your district.  Come prepared with your questions to see if you can stump the attorney!
