Jack Bothwell
President
A Message from the President:

In our respective roles as administrators for school personnel and as college and university placement officials, we strive to create opportunities for our teachers and other staff to grow and be more effective through collaboration. Many school districts are currently adjusting the way they do business in order to improve student achievement through collaborative practices called professional learning communities. It stands to reason that school personnel administrators have as much to gain for themselves, their students, and their school districts by creating opportunities to collaborate and share. The demanding nature of our work, however, makes this a challenge.

WASPA, the leading source of professional support and services for human resources leaders in Wisconsin, has been designed with the thought that we have a crucial need to connect and share, but that our time to do so is extremely limited. Keeping this in mind, WASPA offers to you the following resources:

  • Content loaded fall and spring conferences within driving distance built around timely topics that you have suggested
  • A user friendly website that connects you with a network of over 100 Wisconsin leaders in human resources
  • Informal opportunities to share and learn from each other
  • Mutual support
  • Access and support for WECAN, the State’s premiere online recruitment and application network for teachers and other school district employees
  • Opportunities for teacher recruitment
As a long time school administrator who is relatively new to HR leadership, I can attest to all that WASPA has provided to me and my district. WASPA and its wonderful network of people have been my lifeline.

I invite you to join me in making a commitment to attend the fall and spring conferences, to stay connected with each other, to reach out for help when needed, and to be generous with our time in helping our fellow WASPA members.

Sincerely,
Jack Bothwell
