Dear WASPA Members and Colleagues,
It is with genuine enthusiasm that I step into the role of President for the Wisconsin Association of School Personnel Administrators for the 2025-26 term. I am deeply honored and privileged to serve this exceptional organization, which has provided invaluable support to me both professionally and personally.
At WASPA, our mission is clear: to provide leadership in promoting best practices in PK-12 Human Resources across Wisconsin, ultimately contributing to the educational success of every student. As the only statewide professional HR organization in Wisconsin serving both PK-12 and higher education professionals, we are dedicated to fostering growth in understanding critical HR issues and developing effective solutions. We achieve this through robust professional learning opportunities, a supportive mentorship program, valuable resource sharing, meaningful network collaboration, and consistent communication.
Your WASPA membership offers a wealth of benefits designed to support you in your vital role. Here are a few key highlights:
-
Professional Network: Connect with a powerful network of colleagues, offering diverse expertise and invaluable support. These relationships can be a cornerstone of your professional growth.
-
Wisconsin Education Career Access Network (WECAN) Access: As a unique benefit, WASPA members gain employer access to WECAN, the leading employment application system for Wisconsin's K-12 schools. WASPA leaders, in partnership with UW-Madison, developed WECAN to provide the most effective and cost-efficient method for recruiting talented staff to our districts.
-
WASPA Website Members-Only Portal: Our enhanced website provides a central hub for sample documents and shared resources, access to the member directory, and up-to-date information on professional development events, recruitment fairs, and relevant business affiliations.
-
Advocacy: WASPA actively participates in the School Administrators Alliance (SAA) alongside four other prominent statewide educational organizations. Through this collaboration, we advocate for legislation that strengthens the quality of education for all Wisconsin students.
-
HR Updates: Stay informed with regular email updates and important notices, ensuring you have the critical information needed to navigate the ever-evolving school HR landscape.
-
Professional Development: Our conferences for administrators and support staff offer valuable opportunities to expand your network and deepen your knowledge in crucial areas such as hiring practices, strategic compensation, benefits administration, legal compliance, and employee engagement.
-
Mentorship: Connect with experienced school human resources practitioners through our mentorship program, providing guidance and support for your professional journey.
-
Recruiting Resources: New this year, WASPA is happy to share the Fast Five video series to help educators land their dream job. From writing a strong resume that is easy for recruiters to read to filling out a complete WECAN application, the video series is being developed to help make the job search process more efficient for job searchers AND for employers. You can use the videos however you like, including posting them on your website or social media for prospective applicants. More Fast Five videos are coming soon.
On behalf of the entire Board of Directors and our Executive Director, I sincerely invite you to fully leverage the invaluable resources WASPA offers. Human Resources is a deeply rewarding profession, yet it also presents unique challenges. I encourage your active engagement in all that WASPA provides to support you as you, in turn, support our educators and students.
Sincerely,
Sandy Stefczak
